Help

Most answers are on this page and on the how-to page. To report a bug, open a GitHub Issue.

To delete your account, delete it from the apps, or use the account deletion page.

No email login code arrived? Check your spam folder. Or use Continue with Google or Continue with Apple.

Apple's Hide My Email. If you logged in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, the app shows the address it uses under Logged in as. Use that address on your other devices.

Pairing

"A new device wants to pair": someone tried to pair with this device. If you started this pairing, open PushArmor, and tap Reply if you see it.

If you did not start a pairing: Tap Reject. A pairing request can only come from another device that is logged in with your email address. If you do not recognize it, remove it from your device list and secure the account you used to log in (your Google, Apple, or email account).

"Name wants to pair again": an earlier pairing did not finish. Tap Pair again on its row.

Remove is not the same as Cancel pairing. If you tap Remove, that device is removed from the account. It must log in again and pair with your devices again.

Messages

"Invalid message received": a message came in twice or too late. PushArmor intentionally ignored it. You do not need to do anything.

"PushArmor received a message it could not read": PushArmor ignored a message it could not open. If you were sending something, send it again.

Lock screen and watch

To hide message text on the lock screen, turn off Show message content on lock screen in the app. To hide it at all times, turn on Always hide content: you then see only "New message from Name", and you read the message in the app. You can set both for all devices or for one device.

Your device settings can also hide notification text on the lock screen. The Apple Watch follows the lock screen choice. On Android, turn off Send messages to watch to keep messages off your watch.

Android

On Android, each paired device has its own notification channel, so you can set sound and importance per device in the system settings.

If messages come late, open PushArmor from time to time. In the system settings, do not restrict its battery use, and do not let Android pause it when unused.

iPhone

Allow notifications for PushArmor. If your iPhone was offline, you may get only the newest message.

Firefox

When you install the Firefox add-on, it opens a setup page on PushArmor.com. Allow notifications on that page. Those notifications are only needed to pass encrypted messages to the add-on. It cannot see or read any of your messages or private keys.

If the add-on shows "Finish the Firefox setup tab", go to the setup page and allow notifications.

Some Firefox builds without Google Play services (such as Fennec, Mull, and IronFox) cannot get messages. Use another Firefox build or the Chrome extension.
